I checked the 1950 Star at the library yesterday and unfortunately those two leads didn't pan out.

Ancestry has an Ontario marriage in 1912 for Hugh Wilson and Kathleen Troy so daughter born after that date (maybe someone with a subscription can check for more details on that entry).

Didn't find Kathleen Troy in 1911 census but Hugh Wilson is there!
James Wilson (head), wife Margaret Wilson, brother-in-law William McKeag, brother Hugh Wilson.
See www.automatedgenealogy.com for full details (be sure to read scanned image as well as transcribed page).

Edited to correct census link

Hello Aghadowey, thanks very much for all the information on the Troys, it will certainly give me something to work on over the next few weeks. Will do as you suggest and send a copy of the newspaper clipping to the Chronicle.
At the risk of sounding stupid- how can I read the scanned images of the 1911 census. I went to the site you suggested and just cannot seem to find where to read the images. I must be missing something somewhere or else I'm blind. Please can you point me in the right direction? Many thanks.

Aghadowey, by the way, the Troy scavenger did give me a good laugh.

1911 census- at top of transcribed page there is a link split view. Click on that to see scanned image with full details. Hugh Wilson was a molder, Presbyterian, came to Canada in 1910, etc.

Aghadowey, by the way, the Troy scavenger did give me a good laugh.
He wasn't just a scavenger but the town scavenger according to the obituary. Didn't know there was such a thing!

Sorry- should have given more information but thought you had found the transcribed page already.
Go to 1911 census. Click on Ontario. Put Wilson in search box then filter for all named Hugh. Your Hugh (age 25) is in Toronto West.
