Toronto marriage Wilson/Johnstone
« on: Wednesday 27 August 08 19:11 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to find information about the Wilsons of Toronto. I believe the father of the bride to be the missing link in my family tree. I really dont know where to look for information as I have no dates for this marriage. All I know is that the marriage was reported in a newspaper and my grandmother had an old faded copy of this in the back of a photo album. My guess at dates is somewhere between 1920 and 1950. Not much help I know. I have attached a copy of the newspaper clipping. Any help on the Wilsons or anyone else mentioned  would be appreciated.

I did searches at the Toronto Star's "Pages of the Past" (http://pagesofthepast.ca/) and got a couple of promising hits:
- page 25 of May 27, 1950
- page 27 of Sept 2, 1950

If someone out there has a subscription, maybe they can chase these down for you.

Thanks matildakin, it was good of you to take the time to try to help. Lets hope someone out there has a subscription and can delve a bit further. Do you think I need to post a new message in look ups?

No need to post a new message.  I'm sure this thread will be reviewed.  If no one steps up, I'll pop into the Central Reference Library and check out the Star on microfilm.

Can't help with the Toronto lookup but Troy, etc. are Coleraine names that I recognise and have seen in the local newspapers (unfortunately the only index for Coleraine Chronicle covers 1844-1869 only).

Hello again aghadowey, nice to hear from you, thanks for taking an interest in this post, any help is especially appreciated, this branch of the family is proving to be quite difficult to track down, with not much information to hand I dont know where to look exactly.

Are you also wanting to trace them in Coleraine area? If so send me a pm and will give you a few suggestions about getting information on them (especially the Troy family).
