Hi,
Does anyone know anything about the Commercial hotel Stockport- I think thats what it was called.
Its listed on the 1901 census and the owners were a James and Agnes welsh they had a daughter called Elizabeth -aged one.
Also living there were Agne's nieces Sarah and Janet Macgunnigal- born in Glasgow.
Any information however small would be very helpful.
Thanks

Hi Ricky,
I'll have to try and find out where Philip Street was as it doesn't seem to exist any more and Shaw Heath is quite long. I've been trying to think of hotel type buildings along there but have drawn a blank. I'll be back when I find out anything else.

Hi Pat,
Thanks for trying to find the commercial hotel.I've obviously misunderstood something but your reply has helped.
Does anyone know which part of stockport the hotel was in?
Any help much appreciated. Was it called the Shawcross?

Hi Annie
looking at description of the enumerators district
It came under the Shaw Heath Ward, looking at the streets on the list, it has to be near Carlisle Street, Buckley Street, Castle Street, Greck Street?, Phillip Street area
