It would have made econmic sense I think for them to move to the more industrialised area of Ashton. The professions they gave on those earlier babptisimal records I would think would have been in a cottage industry style setting, and then as the North West industrialised they found greater employment opportunities in the factories.
I will see where the records are housed for ashton as my Step son lives there. I certainly recognise the name St Peter's church. I will try and go again to the Stockport office to see if I can find the earlier baptism records for Thomas or any of these other Chadwicks I found.
