Hi There,
I wonder if anyone can help us. For 2 years I have been researching my husbands side of the family. Their name was McGoohan/Mcgouchan/magohan/McGooghan. Or probably anything that sounds vaguely like it.
His great grandparents wer Patrick and Sarah McGoohan, Sarah's maiden name was Conway. We know that they got married in Edinburgh under the name of McGowan and lived their lives out in the Cowgate area of Edinburgh. We also know that Patrick had a sister called Mary, who married a Kelly and they also lived in the Cowgate.
We were also able to tell that Ptricks parents were John McGoohan and Bridget, ms Dunigan. We thought that Bridget, c1800 was still in Ireland. We have now found evidence that Bridget McGoohan was in the West Lothian area of Uphall and died at Niddry, Uphall. We also have further evidence that she had a daughter also called Bridget, c1833. Bridget married Edward McCann (also from Ireland) in Linlithgow in 1856 and had several children. Bridget c1858, Margaret, c1861, Mary Angus c1863, Edward, c1870, James c1865, John 1868.
Bridget c1833 died on 11/01/1886 at Simpsons Rows, Uphall, Broxburn.
Can anyone tell me if Simpson Rows are still standingand Where they may be buried. (THey were RC) and if anyone can connect to them.
Thank you in anticipation.
Kind regards,
Lynda
