Yes, the one in Dublin Castle...is that where you got the records from in the first place? I just wondered (as there seems to be some kind of Historical Society) if there was anyone there that could help you.
It just seems very odd, that the Irish Police would be connected to Islands, that were under different counties rule.
Also, these Islands all have their own names, and the reason they are called leeward, is due to the direction of the winds that blow there apparently.
Although there weren't police on the actual islands off Galway/Mayo, surely the police on mainland were in charge of the islands as well?
If he didn't serve in Galway, how come Galway is mentioned in his service record? Could he have been stationed in Mayo, but had duties over Galway and mayo?
