According to latest WDYTYA magazine, 1911 will be released in stages, firstly London followed by English counties, Wales and finally the islands.

I'm hoping Staffordshire will be one of the first counties  :D

All right for some  :(  I bet Yorkshire will be last!!  Why can't they know that it's "God's own County"!!  Oops that should upset a lot of people - be generous, it's Christmas, and I'm on my first glass of wine!!   ;D  ;D

Well FindMyPast seems to be well and truly overloaded. I've been trying to access the DD indexes and just get this message:

Due to high demand we cannot connect you to our database at this time.

The beta database has a different url & seems fine... or course you can only use it if you received the magic email, oh & want to look at those areas.

It may be just coincidence that the subscription service goes down just as their new ppv project kicks off!

There's a new message now:

Essential Maintenance

We are carrying out essential website maintenance on findmypast.com.

Our team of engineers are busy making a number of changes to the website to ensure it continues to offer a high level of service to our customers in the future.

We will keep the maintenance time to a minimum and make the service available to you as soon as possible.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

I had this message from 'Find my Past'; on which I already have credits.

The Link is still working for me, (I just checked) but I've had no success with any of the searches that I tried:-(

Has anyone had any luck at all with it?

Romilly :D :) :D

Ah I see what you are saying ShaunJ... they've switched the hardware & staff over to the 1911 beta site for the testing.

That would make sense I guess.  Frustrating if you just wanted to carry on with research on findmypast.com  I wonder if they thought Christmas would be a quiet time?

Exactly ....just a suspicion but it could be that the new beta service is getting first call on server and bandwidth capacity. I wouldn't mind if I'd had one of the magic emails!
