What else is on your mum's birth certificate?   Is there only the one name for the mother -  not Herring formerly (xxxx) ?
And the name Truvel, is that correct?

Lets just take this one step at a time!

You say you have your Mum and her siblings birth certs, which will give you their parents names -  what are they - is that Helena/Eileen nee Herring and a something Reilly?
Or not - is it a Vera who marries a Reilly? who is Vera?

And you say you have your mum's mums marriage cert - who are the people on that - is that Oscar and Eileen/helena?

I am totally confused at present!

Can you list the facts - start with mum and siblings names/dates of birrth and parents from birth certs, then tell us the marriage cert details, date, place, names, and fathers names and occuptions.

BUT if any of the siblings are still alive do not post theirdetails here.

Just been having  a play with all thosenames, and cannot tie a Helena or Eileen up to the same mmn as an Olive.

Not can I see a marriage of an Oscar Herring, although a likely candidate from Wales served in WW1.

I wonder if Oscar was his middle name?

As Liz says, lets do this one step at a time please!

I've just come across this thread(below) too with some extra info about this family.  Looks like some of these births may have been in Ireland.

ok heres what my mother remembers she was only 7 when contact with her mothers family brocken . im trying to be careful whom i mention which makes this even harder .
my mother is rita brock born 9/4/1938 in dublin her mother put her name down as helena herring , on ritas bro and sis birth certs the mother is eileen herring and eileen reilly all 3 names same lady definately !
on helena herring to james brock wedding in 1937 in dublin her fathers name was oscar herring .
helena had a sister olive . a yonger brother truvel reilly (oreilly) who was 17 in 1945 .
helenas mam violet went by the name vera as well , her maiden name un known .
it seems that oscar died , and she married john reilly . (oreilly)
my mom remembers older uncles , ronald and james herring .
none of them could read or write .
it seems as they travelled from horse fair to horse fair they used whatever surname suited in ireland england and wales.  Now im confused , im trying to be circumspect !

From what you are saying it sounds as if most of this occured in Ireland?
If that is the case then this thread needs moving to an Irish board.

Mind you, don't forget that Rootschat doesn't allow any living people to be named so we don't usually put info up about people who were only born in the 1930's unless you're 100% certain they've died.

If you do want this moving then click on report to a moderator, bottom right of the posting and ask that it be moved.

Do you have the family in 1911 yet?

The indexes have a 16 year old Oscar Herring in Cardiff.

We're not allowed to do look ups though.

Splash out on Find My past and you will get his parents and family.
Make sure you look at the actual image- it tells you far more than just the transcript.
