And do you have any dates ?  Especially with a name like Halls it would be useful to have at least an idea of whether we are looking at 1840 or 1890  :D

Hi,

I found these death registrations

Dec Qu 1961 Dunmow 4a 654  Susan E HALLS aged 85    which ties in with the burial Sue found
Jun Qu 1966 Dunmow 4a 653   Charles E HALLS  aged 77
so is this another possible for Charles? edit, there is a burial for a Charles Edmund HALLS  14 May 1966 aged 76, buried at Takeley Holy Trinity

The 1976 burial Sue found seems to tie in with this GRO registration:
March Qu 1976 Uttlesford 9/3896 Charles Edward HALLS born 16 May 1877 so aged 99  :o

You could contact check with the Chelmsford cemeteries department for their burial records, and you could contact the Chelmsford reg office if you wish to buy the death certs and ask them to check they're the right ones before you buy

Hi

I see Sue you have found a MI for this couple
I have the Barnston fiche and the dates you give are actually their death dates rather than burial

Quote:- " My predecessor as rector of Barnston Rev. A Morgan Parry gave the church wardens (and Rural Dean) to understand that he kept a burial register at the vicarage, Little Dunmow but when he retired this was not found, The following lot was compilied from the inscriptions on the headstones"
 A.R. Jack March 1994

He then lists 60 gravestones dating from 1940 to 1981 and Susan Emma Halls and Charles Edward Halls are among those listed, with the dates you have given hunnie.

Hi John.

Susan and Charles Halls were my Great-Grandparents via Vera, my Grandmother. She married Dennis Batt and they lived in Southend most of their lives, where I grew up (Leigh on Sea). Susan and Charles had 9 children (8 girls and 1 boy - Hubert). I was on my honeymoon in Australia recently and met one of Hubert's grandson's, Trevor. I stayed with my dad's cousin Irene O'brien and she showed me pictures of Susan and Charles I had never seen before. I have copies of the pictures.

Charles definitely died in 1976 not 1966. I was born in 1968 and have vague recollections of him at the house in Barnston when I was growing up, I must have been 8 when he died and I remember him only towards the end of his life when he was bedridden.

Never been on one of these sites before but I must be related to you so that's quite exciting. If I can help in any other way let me know.
