does anyone have MI for Carnwath graveyrd or a source for burial records?Am looking for Thomas Alexander died ?1844 . Spouse Margaret Noble

Carnwath should be covered by "The Upper Ward of Lanarkshire" book of MIs, I don't have a copy, sorry.

The burial register for Carnwath is really just the bare bones!
The entry you require reads -
Thomas Alexander, Carnwath aged 85 years, buried 4th March 1844.
The Carnwath mentioned would be the village, as other places in the parish are mentioned as "place of abode".

Hi Avril,
This information comes from the Carnwath old parochial records at Register House Edinburgh. I transcribed the Carnwath burials some years ago, the list of burials is on book 3 of the microfilm records - 632/3. The list begins at 1826 and ends 1854.
There are some mortcloth records in 632/2 from 1716 - 1729. There are no deaths (or marriages) recorded between 1729 and 1825.

Here are the other Alexanders in the Carnwath book.
All have the surname Alexander  - dates are presumed to be of burial.

Infant - 28th Feb 1832, Forth. 4 months.
Robert - 14th April 1837, Forth, 2 years.
Jean - 11 Jan 1839, Forth, died of a cold, 2 years.
Thomas - 24th July 1840, Carnwath, 20 years.
William - 26th DEc 1840, Forth, fever, 3 years.
James - 5th April 1842, Forth, old age, 82 years.
John - 1st June 1849, accident, aged 12 years.
Agnes - 2nd June 1853, died in childbed, 19 years.
John - 23rd Feb 1854, Carnwath, cancer, 49 years.
William - 30th March 1854, Forth, decline, 11 years.

Do you happen to have anything on the burial of ARCHIBALD BROWN, born Carnwath 1799, died Carnwath Dec 1845, wife Margaret Brown? He was a farmer living at Tarbrax on the 1841 Census. His wife died 1868 West Linton, Peeblesshire.

As I said before, it's only the bare bones -
Archibald Brown, aged 46 years, Tarbrax. Cause of death Inflamation. Buried 23rd December 1845.
Quite a lot of Browns in the parish, no others at Tarbrax. The 3 other burials with Tarbrax as the abode were for the surnames Dymock (2) and Stuart.

Thanks again Lodger. Can you please confirm that Archibald is actually buried in the village of Carnwath and not elsewhere in the Parish?

The village churchyard would have been the only burial place in the parish at that time.
The burial information was taken from the "Carnwath parish burial book", so if the deceased was interred in another place it would probably have been recorded, I have seen evidence of this in burial books of other parishes.

Avril, There is a small headstone for Thos Alexander in the Carwath Churchyard, there are no other markings.

Cansip, There is a large stone with many names starting with Jas Broun d 1704 age 72 then several others including Archd tenant Tabrax 19.12.1845 age 46.
The grave number is 177, there are other Browns in other graves.
