She may  have worked in a area  where  the  used to  take  Bush Children  to  the seaside for aholiday. I t was common  practive for many  years  and  there used to be  what was known  as  Bush Childrens Homes  for such purposes.  T

The  lady  in  Victoria was born a Mercer.

Thanks Jenn, yes you are quite right, but I have to wonder. The boys are very well dressed.

I'm having a similar problem--I have an ancestor who probably died in Queensland after 1929 and I don't know any way of checking to see if there is any record of his death. The last thing I'm fairly sure of is that he lived in Baking Board, QLD, during WW1. Any suggestions?

That may be the Place? in Redcliffe that I was at twice in the late 60's that catered for Bush Children with medical problems. I don't know how long the place had existed.

The Bush Children Home I was at for holidays over one Xmas in the early 60's was I believe at Torquay.

Most  children  going on an  outing ( be they indigenous or other)  in  those days  were generally  dressed for  the occasion.

1936 Mr AS Hughes presented his home Tasma to the Queensland Bush Children’s
Health Scheme and asked that it be renamed Wilson House

PianoMan,
Let me know your ancestor's name and parent's names, if known and I will put him on my look-up list. ;)

Bikermickau, Torquay is up near Fraser Island which is quite a way from Redciffe.
