Hi,in the 1851 census you mentioned,Agnes states she is an aunt to the head of the household.I think I have found Catherine & her parents in the 1841 census. There is a couple in Bannermill Street, St.Clements, Aberdeen, John & Mary Sherar & their daughter Cathrine aged 13.All born outwith the census county,John is a blacksmith. I think it is probably the enumerator who has spelled the names phonetically! As Catherine married before registration records began, are you sure her father's name was James. What was the source of your information? Was it George & Catherine Hunter who emigrated to Australia,or James & Agnes Shearer?
Regards,
