Hi there,

I am trying to do a family tree and want some general information on the Flatman family in Norfolk/Suffolk.

I am currently looking at my Grandfathers side of the family.
His name was Donald Flatman born in Norfolk married Joyce Ellen.

hmmm, cant match 1925 in Norfolk .... can show you a 3Q (Jul-Aug-Sep) entry for 1924 Norwich District - mothers maiden name Hipperson tho ?

There is a marriage for a Donald Flatman to Joyce E. Gammons in the September quarter of 1942 at Norwich.   Is this them?   If so, he was only around 17 if born in 1925!

A Donald Flatman birth was registered in the Jun quarter of 1924 at Downham district, Norfolk which would fit in with an April birthday - mothers maiden name is Rolfe.   Could you be a year out with his birth?

If so, marriages show a Wilfred H. Flatman married Ivy Rolfe in the Dec.qtr. 1923 at Downham, Norfolk.

From the information in the obituaries on the Internet (died 18 June 2009) the following appears to be the correct birth entry:

FLATMAN  Donald J. 4b 244 Norwich Sep 1924 qtr (mother - Hipperson)

Presumably he was, therefore, born on 4 August 1924 (not 1925).

Yes thats correct...

I'm lost after then...trying to trace his parents.

Unforuantly as my Grandfather and Grandmother passed away this year I never had a chance to discuss this with them.
