COMPLETE 1871 census look up - GUTHRIE

request for 1861/71 census look up(s) please for

Walter Guthrie/Guthry,his wife Margaret and any family, most probably living at "Drummlochy",Lower Largo. Walter's occupation was a Sailor in 1859.

    1861 Census - Have found a Walter Guthrie and Wife Margaret staying at Largo, Fife with  five of their family  Johan 29 (John in 1851 census) Ann aged 16, Jane 14 (Jean in 1851 census) Robert 12, and Janet 1.

     His occupation is given as Cramar (mer Cervil) have still to look for the 1871 census.

thank you for 1861 census details. Walter and Margaret had a family of 12 some died young then others emigrated to NZ. I am trying to establish when the "others" emigrated. John,Ann,Robert  all emigrated but now know they were still in Largo 1861,unsure if Jean/Jane emigrated. Can I ask if Johns occ was given in the census and confirm if there was a Jane 14 and Janet 1 on 1861 census.

       According to the 1861 census on Ancestry.co.uk Jane Guthrie is aged 14, and Janet is aged 10.
In the 1851 census there are 9 children in 1861 there are 5 children.  I'm away back to have a look at the occupation of John

In 1851 John's occupation is given as a weaver, Helen is a House Servant and 13 year old Henry is a sailor.

     Had to get back to you.  Went back to the 1861 census Johan Guthrie aged 29 is listed as  a daughter and is a dressmaker.  There is no John bu in the 41 and 51 census there is a John and no Johan.

     You will maybe know which one is correct.  You cannot always depend on Ancestry to have it correct.  You might have to go to Scotlandspeoples website.

glad you got back to me,thank you for clearing that up.
I have just put a post up on the Occupations Board,for the occ of Cramar (mer cervil),I have racked my brain and hubbies also, but we cannot think what type of occ that was, any ideas
