mbb - you will be able to send a pm after making three posts.

When I first started I used that software, in the version I had there was an option to File > Save as > and then choose the .ged extension, thus making a gedcom file.

Thanks for the info MaryA.

It was something my brother did  and he has switched computers since then and can't find the install media.

I looked at GRAMPS and it seems to do what I needed.

Just can't convert the format

Hi,

now there's a stroke of luck....maybe. Isn't it funny how things work?

I started my family tree in 2006 but left it after it became too time-comsuming.

I've just searched on the internet for "what is a .GFT file? " , because I found one on my hard drive and here I am.

On my shelf is GSP's Family Tree which I used in 2006...

How can I help?

Hi Pete

Kokon pm'd me to ask about conversion on 8/Jan
I responded but have heard nothing since.

Kokon seems to have last been online on 10/Jan

Don't mind carrying out the conversion.
Equally happy to let you polish the problem off.

Okay, actually there are 3 people asking in the post for the conversion.....john.48, mbb and kokon.

I have the old program and an old laptop running xp, so I'd be glad to try and help anyone who pm's me about it from this post.
