There are state census reportings on the "5's"   but you won't find them consistently for all state and all years.

Here's a good listing of the state census records that are available:  http://www.researchguides.net/census/state.htm  Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything online in the states and time frame that you're looking in.

Good evening,
Hugh Wiliam Hubert Robertson emigrated to the U.S. On the Carpathia. Are you a relative?

Good evening,
Hugh Wiliam Hubert Robertson emigrated to the U.S. On the Carpathia. Are you a relative?

Yes I am a relative....if our HWH Robertson is the same man. My HWH's father was the oldest son (of 8 boys) and my grandfather was the youngest.  In my family Hugh William Hubert Robertson was born in 1885 in Jarrow UK to Hugh Robertson and Sarah Ann Rowland.  He sailed on the Carpathia on 26 July 1904 to New York and met his uncle (William Robertson) at the Hotel Roland, 59th Street.  Uncle William had already emigrated and settled in Massachusetts.

I have a copy of HWH Robertson's US Draft Registration Card for WW1.  Also a copy of the ship's manifest for the Olympic where he arrived at Southampton UK 1923 to visit his dying father.  He returned to New York a month later (on the Olympic) - residence given as Oakland USA.  He was married and wife lived on Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, Mass.  It states his intention was to join wife in Boston and thence leave for California.  From this date I have no reliable info.  I have looked at US censuses but cannot be sure of identifying him accurately.

Are you a relative?  If you are, and would rather exchange info by the private messaging service on Rootschat that's fine with me. Messageboard is fine too.

Dear Finta,
Yes I am a relative - am I right in thinking that HWH died in rather unusual circumstances?
Perhaps we would be better talking about this privately - I'm afraid I'm rather a novice at this sort of web chat.
With my kind regards,
Ian

I'm UK based and have information regarding HWH Robertson's family in Jarrow and further back in Scotland. I know nothing of his death but would be interested to find out!

Glad to find a contact after my original post 5 years ago,

Finta
