Thanks Simon. My footballing pedigree is assured with all the info that you've found about him  :)

Have you got the full team - quite a few might have been from Chirk.

Hi Gadget
Not sure if you can find this one. No rush but if you can it would be great. My dad's uncle Willie MacDonald was born 1876 in Inverness.
Dad always said that Willie was a footballer and once played Derby County at Crystal Palace. He seemed to think it was quite a big match but unfortunately he didn't know when, whether he played for or against Derby County nor whether Crystal Palace was the other team or the venue! I'd assume it was around the turn of the century but that's as much as I know. Not much to go on so don't worry if you can't find him but it would be fascinating if he did show up anywhere.
Thanks

Sheena

Hi Simon,
That's brilliant, thanks!
I guess the F A Cup Final would be pretty good reason to have been talked about. We won't mention the score  ;)
I have a photo of him as an older man at a wedding c1940 and my dad was very fond of him so it's nice to finally find out the truth.

regards

Sheena

Please note that I'll not be on as often as I have been for a while.

I'm sure that Simon will be able to fill in any gaps if I'm not around.
