Looking at freebmd, there are no Stephen Goodwin's that immediately fit - there is one registered in Blean district in 1856, or one in Medway (which includes Rochester) in 1860.

Will keep looking - and welcome to Rootschat!

Erm, from 1911 census Stephen gives his age as 50 and born in Tenham (?).  He is with wife Hepzibah (52) and 4 children (Rose 10, Annie 14, May 16 and Kate 15).

They have been married 33 years, and have had 20 children  :o  of which 11 are still living.

Tenham = Teynham ?
