I have Johns wedding certificate which says he was 24 when he married Elizabeth in Dec 1890 in Grimsby Lincs, Johns father on the certificate was deceased. Elizabeth came from Sunderland, dont know where John was born. With a name like Robinson and John Im finding it rather difficult and already spent about 3 mnths working on it Would appreciate any help or advice anybody can offer.

Hi Alan :)

I thought William the Printer had a son called John who married in 1890.  Your chap is too young isn't he?

Hello Rexy...are you sure William was a Printer, and not a Painter?

The marriage I have found say's he was a  deceased Painter.

If he is the same William perhaps he will be easier to find in the census (if he was a painter and not a printer)

Or perhaps I have the wrong one altogether.... if this is so I am sorry.

Thanks for all the responses and work you guys have obviously put in. Let me clarify what Im after:

Im looking for the father of John Robert Robinson. John (according to his marriage certificate) was 24 yrs old when he married Elizabeth Ann Chambers on 28 Dec 1890 at St Johns church in Grimsby. On this certificte it says John's  father was a William Robinson,  deceased and  a printer by trade.

hope this clarifies
thanks Tony

To clarify further, if John was 24 when married in 1890 then he was born 1866/67 and sure enough there is a birth in Lincoln, registered Dec.1867 of a John Robert Robinson.  If we assume his father was about 20-25 when he was born, that would mean William was born about 1840-50.  However, the easiest thing to do would be to get the birth certificate of John Robert Robinson, Dec.1867 Lincoln 7a 444.

Lizzie

Modified - Getting the birth certificate would not only give his father's name, but also his mother's.  Apart from the fact that William is stated as deceased on John's marriage certificate, it is impossible to know when he died.  It could have been anytime from 1867 to 1890.  I can't find a William Robinson, born before 1850 who was a printer on any census.
