hi all

well thanks to some fantastic help from this forum and a last minute dash to the national archives the other day Ive got further back on my quest but now need help again please!

1911 census shows the following living in third row choppington

james davison 25 born helscott
margaret e davison 23 born washington
john davison 2 born choppington
jane white davison 7mths born choppington

1901 census shows james living at home with his family at 28 back of high row in longbenton/killingworth
- 9 people in one house!! - presumably not more than 2 rooms

john davison 45 born Beadling (is there such a place??)
elizabeth davison 43 born gateshead
james 17 born hepscott moor
elizabeth 19 born felton
george 15 born burradon
dorothy 12 born burradon
susan a 10 born burradon
john r 9 born burradon
thomas 8 mths born burradon

1901 census on margaret's side shows her too living at home (the White family) the other side of the street from james at 21 high row killingworth

alexander white 43 born netherton
jane white 34 born washington
margaret e 13 born washington
henry 10 born gosforth
jane 7 born washington

Does anyone recognise either of these two families, the Davisons or Whites in high row please or can anyone trace them back for me in the earlier census records please?

thanks

snowy I'll wait until stuartroxy gets back before I post my "guess"

Suz

My "guess" was  John was the son of James and Margaret E (as has been posted.

I had no luck with marriage witnesses as there are too many George Thomas Taylors !!!

I look in my notes -as when I was "guessing" I think I did a little bit of research too

by the way -thought I'd just mention -we are not allowed to post details -or offer look ups for 1911 census -copyright issues -there is an index which can be searched free -and lots of tips on this site on how to search

hey Suz thanks - that definitely looks like the same family, even if they arent too sure how old any of them are!

Looking at the ages of the children, Im assuming that they would be more sure how old the younger ones were on the basis that less time had elapsed!

Therefore assuming the eldest is around 7 it gives me something to go on when searching BMD for births and John and Elizabeths marriage certificate.

thanks again
