Given that my request involves a living person(s), I understand that I need to be mindful of what detail I can provide on an open forum.
After my mother died I learned from one of her estranged siblings that she had been married previously and that there were three children by that union. This relative was aged and was not able to tell me the gender or names of my half-brothers / sisters.
He did however know the name of her first spouse: Leonard Theodore Wilson. The marriage certificate shows that my mother married Leonard at Marylebone , London in 1937. He gave his age at that time as 27 years. My mother was Harriet Matthews born at Wales in 1914.
I have been a member of Ancestry.co.uk for a year now and that is where I found details of the marriage. All other searches to trace their children came to nothing.
However, just a few days ago I tried another search and it disclosed a living person resident in Berkshire who lists Leonard and my mother as their parents.
The public tree was posted by their partner, who has not accessed Ancestry for over six months. My messages to the tree owner have not been answered. I assume if they no longer subscribes to Ancestry, they will not have been alerted to my messages.
I have tried telephoning Berkshire telephone subscribers with the same (unusual) surname as 'living' half-sister's partner, but again none of those I have contacted know of the individual in question.
My assumption is that having posted details on a public tree they would be aware that it could be researched by other interested parties, and that they may welcome contact.
Again my research of social networking sites has failed to locate them.
What I was looking for was if someone local to Berkshire could research local resources on my behalf.
Thanks in anticipation.
