Excellent, explains why I could only find David and Sarah in 1841

I must be accurate here, Robert Fill according to the record search was born 1/4/1804 and his mother Mary Fill died 26/4/1804. I have presumed Mary is his mother.

I have not found a record of David Fill marrying a Sarah after 1804, the marriage I was half remembering was to a Sarah Stace in 1791!!

In about 1814 a David Fill marries Ann Parham or Packham.

All this I will check on Monday

The record search clearly says Robert Fill born to David and Mary 1804

I have BT records for Westwell and this says David and Sarah 5/4/1804

Also John Fill of Westwell left a Will, he died 1802.

So he may be the father of David.

Things are hotting up!!

The Mid Kent Marriages Index has David FILL marrying Sarah STACE 6th March 1791 at Westwell.  They could still be having children in 1804.

Ok, I found the marriage in Otterden and both were illiterate, signed with a cross and witnesses were William Packham and John Clinch.

In the parish records for Westwell Robert is the s/David and Sarah not Mary, as the BTs have, so we know Sarah Stace is Roberts mother.

And I had a look at John Fills Will(which you can order from CCA) says he leaves his son David £130  and his other younger sons John, William and Edward £100 each and his goods and chattels to his son Thomas, also money to his closest friend William Allen of Ashford Glover and fellmonger.

So, Rog you were right with Sarah as the mum!!

I am not sure if I picked this up correctly but were David and Sarah Fill on the 1841 Census.

Could someone look that up for me and give me the complete details.
I assume they were at Westwell, Kent.
