Burrows tree
« on: Wednesday 13 October 10 14:44 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help me I am trying to trace the parents of William Burrows born Nottingham in either 1854 or 1858. I have a copy of his marriage cert in Oct 1871 to Elizabeth Kirk and it states that they are both of full age. I found them on the 1881 census they are in White Street Nottingham the age of William says 27 with Elizabeth 22 which is a mystery as she would have only been 12 when she married. The reason I believe this is him is because of the children, as they appear in future census. I have found William in 1891 in Melton Mowbray with his second wife Annie (Caunt) this is my G.Grandmother. I have this marriage cert and it states he is a widower and he is 29, on both certs his fathers name is also William and is a Frame Work Knitter. In 1901 they are in Nile Street Nottingham where my grandfather was born.

1881 RG11 3339 50 14 has a William age 31 with wife ELizabeth age 29, children William 6 and Alice 1, in Nottm.
I would imagine this might be the couple you have an 1871 marriage cert for.

The couple you are following (White Street RG11 3352 12 22) have William age 3 and ELizabeth age 1. Have you got either of these childrens births certs to see what EIlizabeth's maiden name was?

You will notice that the daughter is now called Annie on her birth cert she is named as Elizabeth Ann so I assume she has taken Annie as her first name now. I really appreciate you trying to help me I am having sleepless nights now thinking where to go next

If she was born Ainsworth, then her maiden name would be Ainsworth, not Kirk!

I do think you may have the wrong marriage cert - but based on the ages.

Are the three children that you have certs for all registered with surname Burrows and mothers maiden name Kirk?
And father William? what occupation is given for him, and what address is on each cert, and what dates are they?
