Any idea of dates? It is not a commom name but there are several families in the 1901 and 1911 census of Ireland.

Regards
Stewart, Irwin, Morrison, Haslett, Murrell - Dungiven area Co. Londonderry

I've just moved your other thread here-
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,491825.msg3492966.html#msg3492966

There are 252 results for all over the country searching for McGiffin in the Irish civil registration index. There are also lots from England and Scotland.

Do you have a reason for thinking the family is from Ireland? Best to trace your branch back step-by-step one generation at a time before trying to find an Irish connection.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

In 2002 there were 30 McGiffin in England and Wales over the age of 18.

Presumably that includes the Loose Women celeb ,Carol McGiffin who used to be married to Chris Evans(ginger DJ and TV presenter chappie)

Hi, I am a McGiffin.  I have a lot of info about 3 McGiffin boys who came from Ireland. Their father was a Workhouse keeper.  One of the boys is Carol Mcgiffin's ancester.   Robert was mine but either Philip or Samuel was Carol's.    I am willing to share info with any one who can reciprocate. I am tryng to find out which workhouse,  Portadown is a contender, but I am not definate about this.   Sylvia.

Kaylam never replied to the posts here and hasn't been online since last November.7Perhaps if you can give us an idea of dates we might be able to help you. Any particular reason for thinking they might have been from Portadown?

Thanks for swift reply.  I have had problems with my laptop   [who hasn't]  and lost the info that brings me to Portadown.  But I sent it to my son and have asked him to send it back to me.   As with sons everywhere this may take a day or two!   but I will get back to you... My great grandson is called Kaylem!    I did know know there was anyone else with that name!  Sylvia
