John McGuigan of Newry
« on: Monday 01 November 10 05:35 GMT (UK) »
My father Francis McMahon of Newry enlisted on the outbreak of World War 1 with his friend John McGuigan.  They joined the North Irish Horse Regiment but apparently became separated when my father was transferred to the Royal Irish Fusiliers later in the War.  I would be very pleased to learn something of John McGuigan's family and what became of him - I believe he was a compositor.

If they served in WWI both would be old enough to be listed in 1901 and 1911 census so you might want to start there.

P.S. I've moved your North Irish Horse post to WORLD WAR I board.
