The ages are slightly different to 1881 but not that much.

There is a death for an Annie Lucas 28 yrs 1898 Prescot - again age out.

Not sure really  :-\

As I said I'm not that sure but this seems to be the same family as 1891

1901 RG13; Piece: 3405; Folio: 76; Page: 44
23 Poulton Road Poulton cum Seacombe

Annie Lucas 38 ys widow Draper Shopkeeper b Ireland
John Lucas 19 ys grocer's assistant b Liverpool
Connie Lucas 13 ys b Liverpool
Harold Lucas 6 ys b Prescot
Phebe Anderton 18 ys servant b Prescot

None of this of course answers your initial query- perhaps she is on 1911 census or her parents with a more detailed place of birth in Ireland.

There is a death in 1900- Prescot for John Lucas aged 43 yrs which is a better fit for age.

Yes that is the family.  The address matches address on marriage cert dated 1906.

And some of the names match my uncles and Aunts.

The only discrepancy is that on the birth cert of my grandfather his mothers maiden name is given as Mary Ann McCoy
That birth was in the Everton sub district of West Derby.

Why would  Mary Ann  change her name to Annie?

Ellis Island site has Charles S Lucas, Grocer, Seacombe going to uncle Charles Lucas, Iowa
9th August 1903 ship - The Cedric

I don't suppose she changed her name- it is just like a diminutive of her name.

Thank you for that information.   My cousin in California told me by letter a year or so ago that the family owned a farm in Iowa.

But C S Lucas  returned and got married in 1906.

I can't see a marriage for Lucas/McCoy - there are various marriages for each name but none together  :-\

As far as Ireland, there is one published tree with a scant r3ference to the McCoy family which states that Isabella was born 'Northern Ireland'. There is no source so has to be treated with some care.
You could get the birth certificate for Isabella McCoy and get mother's maiden name.
Family Search has a marriage for an Isabella Summerville and James McCoy in 1853 ( a bit too early?) in Co Tyrone.

Thank you for finding those names and links.    That middle name looks like a substantial lead and give-awy clue.
