Give me about twenty minutes and I will look at findmypast.

I am guessing on West Derby or Liverpool several years before 1882

Yes, that could be a real lead.   There is a Prescot connection. I do remember being told that the family had grocery shops in Prescot.

We have to keep chipping away some times to get to the past, some where along the line the marriage will turn up,I doubt very much a shopkeeper would allow his daughter not to marry, but the exact date and place is proving hard to find.have you any thing else on the family, that might help.

Percy is still with his grandparents in 1901,the family seem pretty prosperous ,and are in Wallasey Cheshire,I wonder why he is with them, did his mum die,

Off the top of my head, I do not know the answer to your question.

What I remember is that two of the sons, Charles Lucas and one of his brothers went over to the USA in early 1900s.    One of the brothers stayed,  and I am still in touch with his daughter over in California.

I know  where John Lucas is buried  and there is a long list of his children on the head stone.

I had not got that written down.  Now that you mention it, I think I will find that address  is a short Cul de sac close to the railway line.
