St Martins Parish Register Morris
« on: Monday 14 February 11 09:04 GMT (UK) »
Hello and thank-you for your support
I am trying to find the partner of a Margaret Morris (married name) born in St Martins 1801.  I have located her as the head of the household on the 1841 census and again in Bilston in 1871 (I cannot locate her in the 1851 or 1861) it appears during these years the older children may have left home also her husband doesn't appear.
I would love to locate her husband and/or other earlier relatives on my journey through my fathers family history.
Kind regards from sunny Adelaide SA.

I've found Margaret and her family in 1841.St Martins parish is covered on the IGI but I'm not finding any of the children baptised in St Martins with a mother Margaret. It is a possibility that they may have been baptised in nearby Chirk in Denbighshire.

Hi

I see that they're living at Park,  Bronygarth on the 1841(HO107/916/2/7/8). This is in St Martins parish but, as William has said, she might well have married  AN Other Morris in either Chirk or Llangollen as they are neighbouring parishes.

Do we have any further info about young Edward, aged 3?  He might just have crept into statuatory registration and this would give father's name.

WR - Park was where some of  my Stokes ancestors were living - I think it had a high % of Methodists at that time. T

There is just one birth registered  for and Edward in the Oswestry RD in that timescale

Dec 1838, Oswestry v 18 p 135  Edward Joseph Morris

This might not be him as many of the early births were not registered.

I see that Edward is married to an Emelia/Amelia on the 1871 - eldest child is aged 7 and b. Bilston.  At the moment i can't find an appropriate marriage for them but will keep looking.

This would give his father's name. Do you have the marriages of any of the other children which would record father's name?

It was a second marriage for both Elizabeth and Samuel:

From http://www.wolverhamptonhistory.org.uk

Elizabeth PAYNE (widow), daughter of Edward MORRIS (dec. - pump maker), married Samuel CRUMPTON (widower - miner), son of Adam CRUMPTON (miner), at St John, Wolverhampton on 2 September 1850.
