Seymour family @ Melksham, Wiltshire England
« on: Sunday 13 March 11 17:46 GMT (UK) »
I have come up against a brick wall !! I am trying to find the next root  to my tree.
I have Joseph Seymour born around 1801,  married to Eliza living in Melksham, with three - possibly four children, - Greorge, Rachel, David & maybe Anne.
Can anyone help me with the Joseph's marriage, where he was born and his parents

Regards

Cog

Hi

I wonder if he is married to Eliza or whether she was his daughter.  Ages were rounded down to the nearest 5yrs in 1841 so Joseph could be 44.  If Eliza is his wife - it must be a second marriage if the others are his children

1841 for Melksham - all b Wiltshire

Joseph Seymour 40 agric labourer
Eliza 25
George 20
Rachel 12
HO107 Piece 1182/5  Folio 32 Page 25

From the IGI

Rachel  Seymour   Christening:  01 FEB 1829   Melksham, Wiltshire
 Father:  Joseph Seymour   Mother:  Eliza

Eliza is definitely shown as 25 on the image but with rounding - she could be up to 29 so only just about old enough to be Rachel's mother - but not George's
