The number looks like 1382 to me.  Is there such a B number?  What board outside the church  ???

Donna have you done this deliberately to drive us all potty?

I'm doing the same with the magnifying glass.  Everytime hubby pops his head round the door, I'm positioning it every which way over the photos (which I have printed up).

Can you see any more clue's on the original ?

Baffled, but enjoying the challenge.  :D

Su - there are people who are VERY interested in B roads (I kid you not).

Have a look at http://www.ukroads.plus.com/digest/b1000-b1999.html

Can't be the B1382, there are no places that would fit on that short road - even the delightfully named Prickwillow.

Paul - no police training here, but I do know people in the FBI. Thinking that they may view this challenge as a waste of their time & resources? Could try - please bail me out!

I think Al's right - a board of some description: but if we can't make out the roadsign, what's our chance of reading that board?

You have a point Paul.  Even if we could read the board it probably says something like "The Lord will provide" which might actually be the only way of getting an answer to where the photo was taken. :)

I agree with ndedross that the car in the foreground is an 1100 and it looks like a 'C' reg which puts it registered in 1965. The rear car approaching is a Mark 1 Ford Cortina which backs up the 1960's date as does the hairstyle of the person by the roadsign.

Any chance of a really hi-res scan of the roadsign?

I believe you Paul  ;D I'd rather tootle along a B road than a motorway any day of the week.  Prickwillow sounds a nice place for a picnic.

Everytime I stare at the road sign I see a different number  :o  Does the sign pointing right look like two names or one long one ?

        :) Don't know if it's any help,

But I think churches always have the altar window facing East.  So the doors in this photo would be facing West.

The shadow looks like early afternoon, summer clothes on people, makes shadows short.

After big debates here the front car is a Prefect.

The car on the right could be a Prefect or a Poplar?

The road sign right looks to have a two word place name and no designation - so Unclassified.
