Do you have an obituary for John?  Maybe that would answer the question about whether they had any children or if he remarried.  If you don't have it, maybe you could try e-mailing the Alma library - http://www2.youseemore.com/alma/default.asp  Also, if he remarried in Gratiot county, there's a person on www.raogk.org who has access to the marriage records.

Did you follow this excellent advice from Shelly - libraries are usually very good ?

Have you seen this very recent entry for Charles E Bussman January 16th 1888 - December 10th 1948. Created by Marilyn - wonder if that has any significance - Marian and Marilyn very similar (grand-daughter perhaps)   ??? Probably red-herring.

Burial: Gethsemane Cemetery and Crematory  Detroit Wayne County Michigan.

And John H (b. 1894) has a father John H. (b. 1860) who I can't find anything about, except that he was a butcher and married Annie McDermott.

Suppose Marian could belong to any of the aunts, uncles, great aunts, uncles or cousins of John
Here is some further census and background on John born 1860

First census showing John with his parents in1860 Altoona, Blair, Pennsylvania (all children born Penn)

Chas Bushman 35 Born Prussia. Moulder.
Susan Bushman 28 Born Darmstadt.
Sophia Bushman 5  Kate Bushman 3
Susan Bushman 2  John Bushman 5 months
Ann Ewalt 21 Domestic. Born Darmstadt

Wow Sandra, thank you so much, words cannot express my appreciation for all of this information.  I had completely missed the Bushman/Buscman/Bussman possibilities for John H; that's given me so much more to go on.

I did see the Pisauro connection, and my gut tells me that could be her.  I posted a message to someone I think is their son on another board, and will try to follow up with him.

I also saw Shelly's recommendation, and I'm keeping that in my pocket till I've exhausted the online search.

Again, thank you thank you thank you.

Jokdy, not sure if you are still following this thread, but I located John and Mabel Bussman in the 1940 census, and it shows that they have a daughter named (*).  This is confusing, as the 1930 census does not show a daughter (they are instead renting to Mabels sister and husband, the Kellingsworths).

If you are a member I think you can see it here:

Otherwise, I think it is visible here:

Not sure what this means, but thought you might be interested.
