you are probably aware that transcriptions on census etc are littered with mistakes (spellings, names, dates and place of birth).
may i suggest that you trace the 1841/51/61 census copperwheat/waite (i am making assumptions here that you have not already done so) then 1871 for dolling.
this should help you to define the family line.
check parish records instead of bmd as banns provide the name of the father.
it may be necessary to obtain the cert based on the info you have, understandably an outlay that may not give you a return but you might be able to offload it through ths site.
