Just been speaking to a cousin who is in the know about my family and Jacqueline sorry but we are not related. Doreen had a look at your Duffy tree at last and your missing James Duffy who was also know as Joe's Jimmy (son of Joseph Duffy who married Jane McKiernan)and that is the link in our two families. Now to see if we can get documentation to back it all up. The high cross in the graveyard is for Cannon Farrel Duffy and put there by his nephew Farrell Duffy. Fr Farrell died on 13 July 1887 going to visit his sister Elizabeth married to Andrew Donahue, He was cycling a penny farthing bike from Longford to Gortamore, Leitrim, when he hit a stone and fell to his death. Elizabeth was on her way to America but I don't know for how long. Apparently there was a priest from the Latin School who went around the parish gathering the family stories but I do not know the name of the book. If I find out I will let you know. The Heather Duffy's did not live in the lane but on the road to Moyne Cross and I believe the family still live there today and they are not related. I think that is it for now, I also don't think the Duffy's from Lough Gowna are related our Duffy's although one member did go and live there in the early 1900's his name was Patrick.
