I just saw that birth too - looks like she consistantly "lost" years on her age throughout her life!

DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I think the marriage cert is a must, the father on the 1911 family has a particularly distinctive middle name, if its on the marriage cert it would be the clincher

The Percy Ambery Bendall m to Jane Hughes fits with family memories. Any help (I am very new to this!) on how to further research Percy's occupation appreciated.

Q3 1936, Birmingham vol 6d, pg 705, Amy H Bendall to Ebeneser H Hodgetts

Getting the marriage certificate for Amy should really be the first step. This will give you her father's occupation at the time of her marriage and confirm you are on the right track.

Then you can go on to look at the 1911 census to see what he was doing then, and if you want get Amy's or any of the other children's birth certificates as they will also show father's occupation.

You should then be able to follow the father back in time through each census, 1901, 1891, 1881, to find him with his own parents as a child, and on the way get his marriage certificate (assuming you are on the right track) to find the brides father's name and occupation and then look for her family in the census records.

I think that I can fill in a few gaps!

Samuel Bendall b1811 Stroud, Gloucs = Eliza b1809
9 children including William Bendall b1838 Cheltenham - d1909 Cheltenham = Emma Cullis b1839 Cheltenham

They had 6 children Ernest, Reginald, George, Percy Ambrey Bendall (1873-1928 Birmingham) all born in Cheltenham, Alice born in Swansea and Hannah born Malvern.

Percy = Jane Hughes (1872-1949 Birmingham) married 1899 Birmingham.
They had 7 children Percy, Harold, Sydney, James, Elsie, Amy Hannah Bendall (1909 Birmingham – 1976 Cumbria), Emma.

Amy married in Birmingham in 1936 = Ebenezer Harold Hodgetts (1917-2001 East Dorset)
They had two children…

Best wishes
