on the 17Th of December 1913 the bishop of Manchester , bishop Knox consecrated the parish church of St Jerome, Ardwick known at that time as Houghton memorial church. The parish was taken out of St Silas parish of Ardwick, which itself had come out of the parish of Manchester in 1842.
T he minister for the first ten years was Rev. S. Sidebotham and from the years 1924-1928 the Rev. H. Kershaw.

for almost thirty years (1929-1958) the Rev J. Duncan. Glover was rector of St Jerome s
parish magazines for the period Jan 1936 to Feb 1937 are at Manchester central library these seem the only records of the church prior world war 2 but there are copies of the parish magazines covering various periods from 1949 onwards.
