Have you checked the marriage entry in the parish register? Is a parish of residence other than Welney St Mary given for William? Do the names of the witnesses give any clues?

Thanks Bedfordshire Boy
At this point my ignorance becomes public knowledge. How do I check the marriage entry in the Parish Register? What website do I visit? I don't belong to any of those 'subscription sites' so if someone can check all this out for me I'd be impressed!!  Welney, back in the 1700's was linked to the Parish of Upwell where many Jacksons also lived but I don't know where to go for these missing clues.  Await further guidance.  tjack

On FreeReg site the only extra details to the William Jackson and Mary Say marriage in 1781 are that he was a bachelor and she a spinster.  No witnesses are named.

A couple of possible burials at Welney show up on Cambs FHS Burial Index 1801-1837.

William Jackson buried 1818 aged 70

Mary Jackson buried 1828 aged 67

I am afraid it is going to be very difficult, if not impossible, to pinpoint William's baptism.
