Thomas Willis -died at sea?
« on: Tuesday 01 November 11 13:41 GMT (UK) »
According to family stoties my GG Uncle Thomas Willis   1735-1759 b Maldon  Essex died at sea off Ccarborough.Hew as a mariner ,possibly on a coal barge. I have searched & searched for a death cert but have run out of ideas. I don't know if they would have taken him home to Essex or buried him in Yorkshire.  Any ideas would be gratefully received-it's driving me mad !
Regards
Brenda

hi both
firstly Nanny Jan  i read on one of the posts on here that someone rang the gro and asked them to check a ref to see if it was the person they wanted before sending off for the cert , have you heard of this practise ? only i,m thinking it may help Brenda save some money only these sites that charge extortionate prices need horse whipping .
SORRY BRENDA I WENT OFF ON A RANT THEN  ;D BUT AS NANNY JAN SAYS NEVER EVER BUY CERTS FROM ANY WHERE ELSE THAN THE GRO DIRECTLY ALL YOU NEED DO IS GOOGLE GRO AND THE SITE WILL COME UP YOU WILL HAVE TO REGISTER WITH THEM I BELIEVE BUT IT,S ALL STRAIGHT FORWARD AND YOU WON,T GET RIPPED OFF LIKE BEFORE .
AND YES WOULD LOVE TO KNOW HOW YOU GET ON WITH THE RESULT .
BEST WISHES

Hi,

I think you might be able to phone some local offices and they might check but I don't think it is generally done.
