« on: Tuesday 22 November 11 21:19 GMT (UK) »
I keep picking this up, then puting it down again.  Not the best way to get ahead, but cant find why the HALL family were at Pendle Hall Padiham 1780s

Why where they in Lancashire, where had they come from and did parents remain there?

Thomas     son    c.. 1782            info from IGI ...baptism
William      son    c.. 1785
Richard      son    c.. 1787
Sarah        dtr     c.. 1783

Thomas.... did he go abroad, where ?
William..... No marriage records but, is this his son? William..(born c 1825 Staverton, died 1899)
Richard Jnr......have traced  him  (bricklayer) to middlesex 1817 married Elizabeth Wilds (my family ) Sarah.......dont have a clue.

I have tried many sites to gain local information..without luck.Hope wih one last go at it, might get a little further.   Please can you help?

Being realistic - I very much doubt you will ever get an answer to that question given it was around 230 years ago

Why do you think the parents were originally from somewhere other than Lancashire?  Do you have info that links them to another county hence your question "Why were they in Lancashire"

The last searchable online census is 1841 by which time the children would be in their 60's (and possibly deceased) and father Richard would be at least in his 80's if still alive

Thank you, Carole W.

Believe family originated sonewhere further north, even suggestion of Scotland.
My sticking point,  not able to find parish records to show their origin.

Would add that I have read of extensive rebuilding of Pendle Hall, throughout the centuries, as Son Richard, became Builder, could that account for Father being there?

Parish records  or Local History my give me a new lead. Cant even be sure of area to search for death records.

Very difficult to say without knowing anything about Richard snr.  His occupation may possibly be shown on the childrens baptismal entries

Those IGI entries which say they are from extracted records - they are transcribed from the original parish entries

THOMAS HALL   Christening:  05 MAR 1782   Padiham, Lancashire
Father:  RICHARD HALL
