Marriage lookup JANE SPENCE Middleham

I have been searching for a marriage of Thomas Thompson and a Jane in Gateshead between abt 1817 and birth of first child Thomas in 1820 (father occupation Cartman)

I can not find a marriage in Gateshead but found this one and was wondering if it was possible for someone to check the parish records to see if Thomas is "of this parish" and any other details that may be of help.
Are the two areas close enough to consider this marriage.

Here are the details for the Middleham marriage on 23 Sept 1817:-

Thomas Thompson, Gentleman of the Parish of the Holy Trinity in the town of Kingston upon Hull, Bachelor.  Jane Spence spinster of this Parish.  Married by Licence, by John Cockerell, curate.  Both signed.  Witnesses: Simon Spence, Wm Spence, Ann Thompson, Elizabeth Spence, Mary Ann ....? and Thos Wrather, all signed.

So, they don't appear to be your Durham born people, mentioned in your other thread.
