From my research I have found that

1.Isaac Munday (d.1855) was born in 1795/93 in Alverstoke Hampshire
2.His parents were Isaac Munday (b.1755.d.1828) and
                           Frances Byerley (b.1757,d.1826)
                           They were married in Nov.1781

3.Isaac Munday (b.1795,d1855) was a baker on the High Street in Alverstoke (see 1841 and 1851 census )
After his wife Ann nee Doling died in 1847 he married her sister Maria nee Doling in 1848.
They had their own child Robert born in 1853 two years before Isaac died.(See 1861 census for Maria Munday)

4.Isaac Doling Munday (b1820) was born in Alverstoke and married Olive (?maiden name).
On the 1851 census they were living on Bemisters Lane Alverstoke with their sons Isaac (b1848) and  George Henry (b.1850).
   Isaac was a butcher.
On the 1861 census they were living on Chapel Lane Alverstoke and Isaac was working as an "attendant" at the Naval Hospital.Their children then were
    Isaac (b1848)
    George H (b1850)
    Anna (b.1852/3)
   Olive M (b.1854)
    Albert E (b.1855)
Emily  (b1856 in Portland Dorset )
   Charles (b.1860)
William Doling aged 18 Isaac's cousin was also there.

In 1871 Isaac was 50 and living and working in the Naval Hospital in Great Yarmouth as a servant/attendant.
Olive was also living in Gt Yarmouth on Pier Road(?).She is described as a seaman's wife and was living with
      Isaac  son  23   Joiner
      Abert  son  16
     Charles william son 10
      Frederick    6   (b Alverstoke)
Fanny Clarken Munday  4  (b Gt. Yarmouth)
They must have moved to Norfolk sometime between 1861 and 1867.

In 1881 Isaac was still living and working in the Naval Hospital in Gt Yarmouth as a cook .
On the 1881 census for Olive she was described as a "wife of a Royal Navy Cook" living at
1,Pier Place GT Yarmouth with

     Albert 26 Cab Driver
     Charles W 20  Painter
     Fanny C  14

On the 1891 census for Olive she was 67 yrs living with her husband Isaac 70 yrs -a pensioner and Fanny C aged 24yrs.

I hope this helps

Dave,

I have been looking at the Hampshire telegraph for references to Isaac Munday, and found 6 entries that may well refer to your Isaac Munday, maybe father and son.

First in 1833, then in 1839
Postscript .
Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle etc (Portsmouth, England), Monday, April 8, 1833; Issue 1748.

Category: News

Isaac Munday was elected as one of the guardians of the parish of Alverstoke, for the year 1833 to 1834. The meeting to elect him was held in the large hall of the Poor House, because the Vestry-room in the church was too small to accommodate that5 number of people.

Advertisements & Notices .
Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle etc (Portsmouth, England), Monday, January 28, 1839; Issue 2051.

His name appears next in 1839, in January: The Commissioners in a Fiat in Bankrutcy, bearin date the 21st June, 1837, awarded and issued forth against ISAAC MUNDAY, of Gosport, in the County of Southampton, Baker, Dealer & Chapman, intend to meet on the 14th day of February next at twelve o’ clock at noon at the Red Lion Inn, at Fareham in order to audit the Accounts of the Asignees of the estate and effects of the said bankrupt.

So has this Isaac Munday died, a bankrupt-I don’t know much about bankruptcy in the early 19th century.
Now maybe this is his son’s family.
Births, Deaths, Marriages and Obituaries .
Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle etc (Portsmouth, England), Saturday, December 25, 1847; Issue 2516.

In this edition a Death notice was given: On Monday last, Mrs. Munday, wife of Mr. Isaac Munday of High Street, Gosport.

Births, Deaths, Marriages and Obituaries .
Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle etc (Portsmouth, England), Saturday, October 4, 1851; Issue 2713.

There is here a marriage notice: MARRIED: MUNDAY-CLAUGHTON: On Monday the 29th ult., at Alverstoke Church, Mr. James Munday, third son of Mr. Isaac Munday of Gosport, to Mary, youngest daughter of Mr. Claughton, late of Portsmouth.

Births, Deaths, Marriages and Obituaries .
Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle etc (Portsmouth, England), Saturday, July 22, 1854; Issue 2859.

MARRIED: BOOTH-MUNDAY: On the 17th inst., at Alverstoke Church, By the Rev. T. Le Bart, Mr. G. W.  BOOTH, superintendant of the government contract, under J. W. Diggle, esquire, at Dover Castle, to Eliza, fourth daughter of Mr. Isaac Munday, of the High-street, Gosport.

Hi Steve

I know it's difficult and you want to contact the originator of this thread, but leaving your e-mail address on this website which is visible to the whole internet, people & computers makes you liable to receive loads of spam.

It would be better to make a few more posts elsewhere on either this thread or others so you can send a personal message to Quartin.

Hello
My interest in Isaac Munday b1820 ish has a bearing on my actual search .
I am looking into a family called Davis who lived in Alverstoke at the same time as Isaac.
John Edward Davis was a 2nd Master aboard HMS Terror when she sailed to the Antarctic in 1839-43.
Also on board was isaac Munday aged 21 who was a steward on the ship..  Both men were born and educated in Alverstoke and whilst John Davis was about 5 years older he must have known the Munday family through Isaac's father being a baker.
I have a map of Alverstoke dated 1857  and revised in 1873.I have found the High Street where Munday's bakery was situated but cannot find Elliott Place where the Davis household lived, or should I say Mrs Emily Davis and her 2 daughters Emily and Ellen in the  1861 census.  I am writing a book about John Davis and his naval career and any info would be really appreciated.
I have also found out that John's parents married at St Thiomas's in Portsmouth and that his father (Henry) was serving aboard HMS Venerable at the time of the wedding.  John's mother was Emily Dobbins and she was from Bristol.
Henry Davis is recorded as living in Elliott Place in 1834.  Any info on HMS Venerable, Elliott Place, the schools in Alverstoke in about 1820-30, or the Davis family would be appreciated as would any other contacts who might be able to help.
Kind regards
John Knight
