Charles and Hannah Baird Nanaimo Canada
« on: Saturday 16 June 12 17:11 BST (UK) »
I would like to find out births, marriages and deaths of the children of Hannah(Cowans/Stobbart) born England 1889 and Charles (B 1889)from Scotland who died 1924/25. They were Velma, Olive, John and William. Hannah emigrated 1911 with her family.

Hannah also had a daughter Jane Ann Stobbart (Jennie born 1910 in England)

Any help with information would be helpful.

We could use a bit more information in order to try to find some info.

Did Charles die in Canada and did he have other family members in Canada. What was his occupation?

Were the children born in Canada or England/Scotland? If so, when and where were they born.

You have 2 possible maiden names for Hannah - Cowans and Stobbart. Is one a first marriage?

Is it possible that Charles came first and she followed at a later date?

You stated Hannah emigrated in 1911 with her family. Can you give us the names and relationship.

BMD's in Canada are by province and each has their own privacy laws. British Columbia has more flexible laws than some but births aren't available after 1903, marriages until about 1932, deaths 1986. The dates do change each year as more years are added.

Thanks for the help- i will check out websites etc but looks like i won't have any luck with births of their children as they were all after 1918.

Hannah was married to William Stobbart in England and her daughter Jane Ann (Jennie) was born in England. They travelled 1911 with her father James Nairn Cowans and sister Jane Ann Cowans. William had already arrived in Canada a year earlier.

Charles arrived in Canada 1909- a single man. William died 1912 and Hannah married Charles 1918-then their four children were born after that date.

I dont know of any other family for Charles in Canada but it is possible that his parents were James and Ellen Baird.

As a non resident of Canada can i use VIRL?

Thanks again all help appreciated
