There is a death on SP -  in Torryburn 16 Feb 1890 for James Yates, 84, pauper formerly weaver. Parents James Yates and Annie Strachan. Informant Inspector of Poor.
This seems to tie in with James Yates in 1871 (66y/o) and 1881 (75y/o) censuses where he is living with unmarried sister Mary in Torryburn. In 1871 he is a Boatman, birthplace Culross, and in 1881 a General Labourer, birthplace Torryburn. A 78y/o Mary died 1888 Torryburn

Hi davidpaul remember that most marriages took place in the brides parish, which may not be the same as the grooms parish. 

There is a marriage on Scotlands People for an Elizabeth Simpson to a James Yates in Torryburn parish, Fife in 29th October 1836.  It may well be your 'Elizabeth', there are only about 3/4 miles between these two parishes of Culross and Torryburn.
