I know I have put something on here before this but my ggggg grandmother was in Corsham alms houses which I believe was set up for 6 ladies of restricted means. I believe that they may have been called the hungerford alms houses as well. I know that her grand daughter mary ann east stayed with her for a few weeks. Mary Ann's mother was I believe a Sarah archard who maried a Joseph East. I am not sure whether Sarah's mother was an Archard or not.

Is there anyone out there with any sort of list of whom lived in the alms houses between about 1800 and 1890
also does anyone know anything about sarah archard....I know they moved to kilmersdon somerset

thanks

Gill

Hi Rosie

Presume this was around late 1700s when sarah was born as her son, Thomas was born in 1824 and he was one of the youngest. I know that there were six apartments in the alms houses at Corsham..think they may have been built by Hungerford. I also know that Sarah's daughter visited her grandmother in the alms houses so think that may have been in late 1830s/40s.

grateful for any information anyone has..starting to piece things together but am struggling.

Thanks

Gill
