hi i wonder if someone would look up Charles Herman , born around 1872, listed living in hull  Yorkshire in 1901 census, listed as Berlin student. if i can get immigration details it could help . it could be karl Herrmann as i stumbled on some records in family search that give a hint my great grandparents karl's mother. regards  Alwyne

This Agnes was apparently born Agnes Mary Spencer in Birkenhead in 1874.There is a marriage in Sculcoates Yorkshire in 1897 of an Agnes Mary Spencer.

I have to ask the OP quite pointedly;Is it possible Charles used the name George Anderson when marrying?

Hello everyone and many thanks for your interest, It  it seems that Agnes married George Anderson  and then lived with Charles Herman and had 6 children together as they are in the 1911 census as well as the children, one of which Harold was my father. Now i do not know what happened to George.
I did not know anything about my grandparents at all as they were dead before i was born in 1946 the only thing i can remember is that my mum said to me that my name (Alwyne) came from my fathers grandmother. On family search I found a karl Herrmann born 1873 to Gustave and Ida Alwine  which looks like a good bet, but i need to confirm by the emmigration of Karl . After 1911 they must have changed the name to Anderson as WW1 was approaching. I cannot find karl after 1911 i assume he was interned and i am just having a look at that now.  Best regards Alwyne

Whilst I would apologize to my friends in Yorkshire,it does seem that at that time these matters were somewhat loose!I have a relative who in 1900 moved to Rotherham and had children with two different ladies whilst his wife moved to the Manchester area.
