John Groom: Shropshire to Canada

Can anyone help me, my husbands grandfather John Groom from Shropshire, who married Lily Baily at St Leonards Woore ,Shropshire in 1923 and then he emigrated a couple of weeks later and sailed on the ship montcalm.He arrived in Canada on the 17th August in Quebec and was going to Winnipeg as a harvester.His wife supposed to have joined him after her baby was born  in January 1924. I do know that they did'nt join him and the story go'es he was killed before they could go. Can anyone help me  to find out anymore.

I've split this off from the other Groom thread to make a separate topic and (hopefully!) get a better response.

Are you looking for information about John before he left Shropshire or just his death in Canada?  If you know his date of birth (even approximate), that would be helpful to try and pin him down.

Sorry the only date of his birth is 1893 as I know he was 30 when he got married.
