Hello
I had no idea when I lived in Durban in the 1970's that I would be trying to trace relatives all these years later - so need some help, please.
The family called Peare. Several people I am sure came to SA, and then a sister then called Brader came just prior to 1900.
Henry Charles Peare born in Wales 1874 - may have married twice to Isabel Hayter and then Phoebe ?.
Andrew John Peare born in Wales and possibly married Caroline Maria ? in South Africa. May have been in Cape Town.
I have found references on your national archives site and on the 'photograph gravestones' project.
In the early 19th century the Brader family were pianoforte makers in London before moving to Swansea, Wales where they also set up a music publishing business.
Edward Brader and his wife Sarah nee Peare, came to Durban in 1897.
Did Edward set up in music publishing in South Africa also?
Would be happy to receive any information and guidance on searching.
I know it is much more difficult to search than here in the UK.
Regards
Beryl
