hi all just received dads war records it says transfered to  gloucestershire    queens royal reg. 7/3/42      india 28/5/42-31/7/42   ceylon 1/8/42-3/2/43  india 4/2/43-14/11/45 on discharge paper it says
spent 31/2 years in india and burma how can i find out were about he was fighting and would he receive the campaign medal? now go easy on me am a pensioner

I would be very suprised if his service record didn't show what medals he was due...If unsure please look at this page http://www.veterans-uk.info/medals/medals.html and they should be able to help. I will also ask my colleague who is a medals buff.

sorry  for late reply had a flood in bathroom[g/son]

 it has on his record war medal 1939/45   it is hard trying to read the records on his notification
of release it says?a strong, hardworking individual with a good army record3 1/2 years in India&
Burma.. if he was fighting in burma would he be due or awarded a medal?

also what is this ?admitted to 215 fld ambulance on 1.1.44 rejoined b..from hospital 5.1.44
entered convalescencal area 21.1.44 quitted Convalescence 14.5.44 would it be malaria?

It could have been malaria - or it could have been something else.Dysentry perhaps, or wounded in action... Field Ambulances were mobile medical units which were near combat zones and looked after wounded soldiers.

There's an interesting account of life with the 215 Field Ambulance here which gives a great picture of what was going on at the time...

2nd Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment this was dads regiment he was moved from ceylon to india on 4/2/1943
