Hi, Yes sorry I should've also mentioned the Hatch(er) family originated from Staplehurst, Kent. Robert was definitely a brickmaker, you make a very good point about him being a wood dealer & hawker in the 1891 census but it's definitely the right family. They moved around a bit & ended their lives in Capel, Kent. The 1901 census actually has them as the Owens family in Five Oak Green, Kent, my theory being that Robert senior got into some sort of trouble (possibly connected to the hotel?) & changed his family's surname to Owens for a while until the heat was off. In the same census Robert junior suddenly becomes William so Robert Hatch effectively disappears! By 1911 Robert junior has reverted back to using Robert again......
