Hello
I was wondering if someone could help me please.
According to the 1861 census taken at Yarmouth, Norfolk, my ancestor William Ingram was located on a ship, as the census states 'shipping at sea and ports abroad'. It then states in the 1871 census that his occupation was a mariner, and that by then, he was married to a woman named Maria and had many children, George, Frederick, Charles, William, Maria and Ann. He is listed as being in military service from 1845 - 1854. In 1881, he is living in Kingston Upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
He was born in 1833/1834.
My question is, could someone please find out the name of the ship/s he worked on? What rank he held, if any and any other information regarding his occupation
my thanks
Sirsimon
