West Ham, Frederick & Katherine KYNE
« on: Thursday 16 June 05 00:55 BST (UK) »
In 1901 Frederick & Katherine KYNE were residing in West Ham with daughter Ethel KYNE.  He was a young tailor's assistant.
So what every became of young Ethel KYNE from West Ham
but born in Islington?? Mrs Kyne's birth name likely DAVIS

In 1881, Frederick was only 6 and living with his
parents Alfred & Elizabeth and siblings William John, Hanna,
and Sarah KYNE in the Finsbury area on Little Sutton Street, but now may be called "North burg street" ???

Some of Frederick's neighbors at Little Sutton were Richard & Mary TILL, George WALL( the butcher),  Mrs Sophie SHALL
and one called John FRENCH.

Jennifer

I don't have the KYNE families info for 1861, 1871 and 1891.
Based on those tears, I would be looking in the Clerkenwell area regions for William John KYNE, and his father Alfred  KYNE and others.
Somewhere there should be a Rebecca KYNE.

I guess any KYNE families in 1861 would be great.

If Elsie is the sister of Lilian Primrose Selley then she is my second cousin.

Elsie Lucy Jones nee Selley was born on 23/12/1923, Lilian & Elsie also had a brother William John (Billy) Selley born 15/7/1919 he passed away in June 1980 was living in Seven Sisters Road, London,  Elsie had 2 sons Martin William Jones (my husband) 18/3/1955, and Stephen Jones 27/3/1958 he sadly passed away the same week as Billy at the age of 22.  Elsie had contact with the family but was not brought up with them, we don't really know why as she doesn't like to talk about it as Lilian's death is still very painful to her.  She was brought up by an Aunt surname Rossa, we think it was her fathers relative, Aunt Rossa passed away about 1958.
Whilst writing do you have any information on the Selleys business, Elsie has often talked about the family having a haulage business with horses and carts and that she had visited stables, also do you have any information on Sarah Ann Selley Elsie's mother, we believe that she was institutionalized, the only pictures we have of any of the family is of Elsie, we think she may have pictures of Lilian and the rest of the family but its to difficult to quiz her any further, she is now 81.  My email address is Moderator comment: e-mail address removed to prevent spamming.  Please use private message facility to exchange e-mail addresses.  Thank you!! if you want to contact me direct.  What is your connection with the Selleys who were your parents?  Many thanks Martin & Janet

Kyne connections

Frederick Kyne is a brother of William John Kyne, father of Martha Matilda.
Sarah, Rebecca and others.  Martha was killed at New North Road along with her husband, and William Selley. and Lilian Primrose Selley.

As the story goes, Lilian was not expected to be at the location
when the bombs rained down.  She was expected to be with her
boy friend.  But, decided to go back to the place to complete a birthday celebration of one of those in the house.  And the rest is history, but it is said Sarah (Kyne) Selley never did recover from the event after losing
a sister, husband, daughter and a brother-in-law.

Other sisters such as Agnes, Rose and Rebecca were residing in various locations from Southend-On-Sea to London Town.  Each one would have their own story to tell.  One of the interesting stories concerns the Talza Arcade,
and the various characters that would have shops or some of the locals.
Some years back after the Arcade was torn down "in the name of progress",
there was a story told by one of the former shopkeepers that operated
the bookshop.  Sarah's sister Rebecca operated a shop in the arcade.
Meanwhile another sister Agnes operated a clothes shop in London.

There is another interesting story concerning Ely, Cambridgeshire
but that belongs on another thread.
